Is Your Environment Positively Influencing Your Mood and Productivity?
I am most certainly a creature of comfort (I am a Cancerian after all!) and one thing I’ve learned over the years since starting my business and working from home and in an office space, is that our environment can be used to influence our productivity by way of altering our mood.
A calming environment evokes feelings of ease and helps us to feel centred and more relaxed, which in turn helps our overall level of focus and concentration. If we consider the stress x productivity relationship for a moment, we know that too much stress inhibits our ability to concentrate, exercise good judgement and produce our best quality work.
With our work environments changing regularly, you may not be able to rely solely on working from the comfort of your at-home setup, that incorporates natural essential oils, candles, your vision board for inspiration and a fresh bunch of flowers or your rapidly multiplying house plants.
The trick is to find ways of inviting more calm into wherever you choose to work, whether that’s opting for a cosy café where the smell of a fresh chai latte or long black encourages you to inhale deeply and sit back into your comfy armchair, or a co-working space that’s full of indoor plants to enliven its members. You might even like to bring some calm into your space by spraying your own invigorating room mist, making a herbal tea, or popping on a pair of noise cancelling headphones and listening to a cosy jazz playlist.
With Love,
Jessica
