A decade ago, I thought I had my entire future all figured out. I had just graduated with honours from my postgraduate diploma in psychology and was awarded a full scholarship to begin a PhD. My tidy little ten-year plan encompassed following in the footsteps of my supervisor. Late one evening, the rug was completely pulled out from underneath me and while I didn’t know it yet, my life was about to change.

I was sitting in my parents' kitchen, when I felt this wave of inspiration wash over me. It was like a lightbulb lit up and I knew that I needed to start a YouTube channel. This was the beginning of Study With Jess. My mission was to empower people on a global scale to work smarter, not harder, achieve better work-life balance, and bring about long-lasting success.

The decision to take a leap of faith, back myself, and to quit my PhD changed my life forever

It was then, that for the first time ever, I realised the importance of honouring our own core values and embracing our authenticity for building our dream life - a life where success is defined on our own terms. Those early days were a whirlwind of learning. It showed me the importance of adopting a growth mindset and the belief that everything we ever do, will serve us in some way. This mindset has carried me through some of my toughest moments on this journey.
